Going To Be Promoted To Grandma March 6, 2016

My youngest daughter and her fiance’ are pleased to announce that they are expecting a little one at the end of July / beginning of August. This will be the first child for both Raychel and Jon. Everyone in the family is over the moon with happiness.

This will also be my first grandchild! I’m already picturing sleep overs and sending the new mom and dad off on dinner dates so that I can hog all the baby time I can get.

I have started collecting all kinds of children’s books, and watching for sales on diapers and basically everything baby. My husband and I have decided to turn one of our extra bedrooms into the “grandchild” room. A room set up and waiting for the dear little ones to spend the night.

In the next few weeks Raychel will have an ultrasound to check the health of the baby. They may also be able to tell the gender. Mom and dad both would like to know if they are having a boy or a girl to help with planning the nursery and such. This will be exciting news if they are able to find out.

I told Raychel that when I was pregnant I didn’t know ahead of time if I was having a boy or a girl. It wasn’t that common back then. I was surprised with all three of babies. Two daughters and one son. I am the happiest, proudest mom, ever.

Soon I will be the happiest, proudest grandma, ever!

The Beginning of Autumn

Things Change

Worry not

Is what they say

It’s not easy

Yesterday or today

Trying to decide

Making a new way

Scared and uncertain

All we can do is pray

It’s hard to believe that summer is just a memory now. The cold nights and sunny days of November are here in Michigan. I now have pulled out the extra blankets around the house, and even have a space heater placed in my bedroom for added warmth. In a way, November can be a sad month especially if you don’t like winter. It can also be the start of an exciting time of year with holidays just around the corner.

This year, November is very exciting for my family. My son will be getting married at the end of the month! I will gain a daughter-in-law, who I already love! There has been lots of planning, shopping, and crafting going on with the merging of these two families. I love my son’s new family. They are wonderful. We all get along and enjoy spending time with each other. We really couldn’t have asked for a better in-law family!

Thanksgiving is coming and this year we have so much to be thankful for. A new home, healthy family members, a good small business, and the love of each other. As I watch the leaves continue to fall from the backyard trees, I wonder what next year will bring. Here’s hoping the winter will be mild and pass us by very quickly! 🙂

This little shoppe in England would be the perfect place for me to browse, pass the time, and feel happy and creative. Do you have a certain space or place that you would like to go to when you need to recharge? Let me know. Post a comment and/or photo of a place that makes you happy 🙂

Memorial Day May 27, 2012

I would like to take a moment this Memorial Day weekend to remember all of those men and women who have bravely given their lives to our country. I am in awe of the courage and patriotism that each of these men and women have had in their heart. It does take a special kind of person to leave the comforts of their home and family to face new adventures, and in this day and age, challenges known as war.

I am also thinking of the brave and encouraging family members who had to let their child, brother, sister, etc actually go and represent our country. The family plays an important role in all of this. Thank you to the parents who raised great children that are independent and selfless to join the military.

Thank you does not seem like words enough to express the gratitude that Americans feel toward these brave people from all neighborhoods across our great country. The United States is lucky to have such loyal and patriotic citizens.

Heartfelt thanks and praise again to all of our service men and women who have gone before us and are fighting for us even today. You are what courage looks like.

My son Colton was gone yesterday, last night, and most of today at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) here in Metro Detroit, Michigan. This is where he took various tests to become enlisted in the US Marine Corps. Colton did very well and he will be able to choose from just about any job he is interested in.

I was a wreck last night. I missed him and he was just spending the night at a hotel in a nearby city! LOL Oh well, it’s a Mom’s prerogative, right?

He will most likely not go to boot camp until December, because there are so many recruits right now. This will be a long wait for Colton. I know he is anxious to get started. But, as his Mom, it’s okay with me if December never comes. 😦

I’d like to hear form other military Moms and learn how you are coping with your child in the military. I am very proud of Colton. A mother bird does have to let her baby birds leave the nest at some point. 🙂
