Going To Be Promoted To Grandma March 6, 2016

My youngest daughter and her fiance’ are pleased to announce that they are expecting a little one at the end of July / beginning of August. This will be the first child for both Raychel and Jon. Everyone in the family is over the moon with happiness.

This will also be my first grandchild! I’m already picturing sleep overs and sending the new mom and dad off on dinner dates so that I can hog all the baby time I can get.

I have started collecting all kinds of children’s books, and watching for sales on diapers and basically everything baby. My husband and I have decided to turn one of our extra bedrooms into the “grandchild” room. A room set up and waiting for the dear little ones to spend the night.

In the next few weeks Raychel will have an ultrasound to check the health of the baby. They may also be able to tell the gender. Mom and dad both would like to know if they are having a boy or a girl to help with planning the nursery and such. This will be exciting news if they are able to find out.

I told Raychel that when I was pregnant I didn’t know ahead of time if I was having a boy or a girl. It wasn’t that common back then. I was surprised with all three of babies. Two daughters and one son. I am the happiest, proudest mom, ever.

Soon I will be the happiest, proudest grandma, ever!

November Already! November 3, 2014

It’s hard to believe that summer is just a memory now. The cold nights and sunny days of November are here in Michigan. I now have pulled out the extra blankets around the house, and even have a space heater placed in my bedroom for added warmth. In a way, November can be a sad month especially if you don’t like winter. It can also be the start of an exciting time of year with holidays just around the corner.

This year, November is very exciting for my family. My son will be getting married at the end of the month! I will gain a daughter-in-law, who I already love! There has been lots of planning, shopping, and crafting going on with the merging of these two families. I love my son’s new family. They are wonderful. We all get along and enjoy spending time with each other. We really couldn’t have asked for a better in-law family!

Thanksgiving is coming and this year we have so much to be thankful for. A new home, healthy family members, a good small business, and the love of each other. As I watch the leaves continue to fall from the backyard trees, I wonder what next year will bring. Here’s hoping the winter will be mild and pass us by very quickly! 🙂

Getting Ready For DisneyWorld April 10, 2012

Disney World here we come! Only 2 more sleeps until we leave for Florida. We are Disney Vacation Club members, so we can’t wait to get back “home”. When we arrive at our hotel/condo the cast members say “Welcome Home”. It’s SO cool 🙂

It’s cool and damp here in the Midwest today, so sunny and 80 degrees sounds amazing! Not to mention all of the wonderful fun things we will be doing this weekend. My daughter, Raychel, will be celebrating her Sweet Sixteen Birthday at Disney this year. Her actual birthday is Sunday, April 15th, and we have some awesome Disney surprises in store for her. We will be sure to post pics of that!

We are going to be flying Delta, and they do charge $25 per checked bag, so we all have been busy trying to see how much we can pack in our carry-on bags. One of the nice advantages to being a DVC member, is that there are washers and dryers right in our condos. That means we can pack less and throw in a light load of laundry at the end of the day if we need to. Yay!

Raychel is a little anxious when she flies, so we are going to have the Dramamine handy, and maybe some Motrin or something else to relax her. 🙂 She’ll be fine. She’s going to take a cozy blanket and probably sit right next to her Dad!

So, I will be sure to update everyone on how this trip is progressing, and upload lots of pics!
