Going To Be Promoted To Grandma March 6, 2016

My youngest daughter and her fiance’ are pleased to announce that they are expecting a little one at the end of July / beginning of August. This will be the first child for both Raychel and Jon. Everyone in the family is over the moon with happiness.

This will also be my first grandchild! I’m already picturing sleep overs and sending the new mom and dad off on dinner dates so that I can hog all the baby time I can get.

I have started collecting all kinds of children’s books, and watching for sales on diapers and basically everything baby. My husband and I have decided to turn one of our extra bedrooms into the “grandchild” room. A room set up and waiting for the dear little ones to spend the night.

In the next few weeks Raychel will have an ultrasound to check the health of the baby. They may also be able to tell the gender. Mom and dad both would like to know if they are having a boy or a girl to help with planning the nursery and such. This will be exciting news if they are able to find out.

I told Raychel that when I was pregnant I didn’t know ahead of time if I was having a boy or a girl. It wasn’t that common back then. I was surprised with all three of babies. Two daughters and one son. I am the happiest, proudest mom, ever.

Soon I will be the happiest, proudest grandma, ever!

My son Colton was gone yesterday, last night, and most of today at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) here in Metro Detroit, Michigan. This is where he took various tests to become enlisted in the US Marine Corps. Colton did very well and he will be able to choose from just about any job he is interested in.

I was a wreck last night. I missed him and he was just spending the night at a hotel in a nearby city! LOL Oh well, it’s a Mom’s prerogative, right?

He will most likely not go to boot camp until December, because there are so many recruits right now. This will be a long wait for Colton. I know he is anxious to get started. But, as his Mom, it’s okay with me if December never comes. 😦

I’d like to hear form other military Moms and learn how you are coping with your child in the military. I am very proud of Colton. A mother bird does have to let her baby birds leave the nest at some point. 🙂
